10 Events Happening in St. Louis this September

The final days of summer are here, but September in St. Louis is still filled with great events.  Here are some of our picks for what to do in St. Louis this September.

Saint Louis Art Fair | September 9 – 11

If you want to see one of the best art fairs in the country, head to Clayton for the annual St. Louis Art Fair. This three day exhibition of visual and performing arts features the fine art works from 181 nationally recognized artists.

Loufest | September 10 – 11

LouFest just keeps getting better every year. The 2016 LouFest lineup includes LCD Soundsystem, Chris Stapleton, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Band of Horses, Big Gigantic, The Kills, Buddy Guy, Shakey Graves. This year’s locally-produced festival, now in its seventh year, looks to bring the Lou back to LouFest with a larger LouKidz area, an enhanced Nosh Pit featuring the region’s top chefs, and expanded beer tasting experiences.

Great Forest Park Balloon Glow and Race | September 16 – 17

Founded in 1973, The Great Forest Park Balloon Race is celebrating its 44th year. Come out and enjoy one of St. Louis’ most popular events.  It all begins with the Balloon Glow on Friday night. Then, crowds return to Forest Park the following day for the big race.  Along with the balloon races, the event also features pony rides, local musical entertainment and concessions. It’s full of family fun!

Budweiser Taste of St. Louis | September 16 – 18

This event features the region’s best restaurants on 314 Hot Sauce Restaurant Row, Chef Battle Royale Culinary Competition on the Stella Artois Culinary Stage, Goose Island School of Cooking Stage with live demos and culinary showcases, Dillard’s Main Stage with free national concerts, Kids’ Kitchen – Cooking with STEAM, The ArtWalk, The Marketplace and more.

The Old Webster Jazz & Blues Festival | September 17

Non-stop jazz and blues music from two stages showcasing St. Louis’ most talented performers plus food and drink from area restaurants. There will also be street entertainers with face-painting, juggling and balloons.

HOP in the City | September 17

Schlafly’s Hop in the City is back for its 18th year. This year enjoy over 40 of Schlafly’s handcrafted brews, a great lineup of live music and tasty food offerings. Tickets are on sale on Schlafly’s website.

Hispanic Festival | September 23 – 25

The Greater St. Louis Hispanic Festival celebrates the food, music and cultures of Latin America. This year, the annual event will be held at Soulard Park just south of downtown St. Louis. The three day festival is truly a feast for the senses. You can hear the sounds of Mexican salsa bands, see the bright costumes of folk dancers and enjoy the tastes and smells of some of the most popular Hispanic dishes and desserts. Admission

Murmuration | September 23 – 25

In nature, a murmuration is a flock of starlings that produces intricate patterns during flight. The Murmuration Festival is a 3-day event that explores the intersection of art, music, science, and tech. Innovators, scientists, artists, and entrepreneurs are invited to engage the public and share their work. Cutting-edge music performances are featured throughout the day and into the night.

Q in the Lou | September 23 – 25

Q in the Lou is back at Soldiers Memorial featuring nine of America’s legendary pitmasters, Q in the Lou is a celebration of great barbecue, with cooking tutorials, a BBQ innovations expo, KCBS BBQ Competition, great live music, and of course, the best barbecue in America.

Strange Folk Festival | September 24 – 25

Strange Folk Festival, the popular St. Louis indie craft fair, is back again this year. This unique art and story telling event features 10 live bands, a curated selection of over 200 makers as well as DIY activities for the whole family.
