Jazz, Race, and Politics

March 15, 6:00 pm TO 8:00 pm | Jazz At The Bistro | Free

Part of the Whitaker Jazz Speaks Series, Stanley Crouch will talk about the connection between jazz, race, and politics. Following is a special performance by an all-star sextet of St. Louis musicians of the controversial We Insist! (Max Roach’s Freedom Now Suite), composed in 1960 and inspired by the Civil Rights Movement.  Whitaker Jazz Speaks is a series of three community events exploring the connection between jazz, race, and politics. Thanks to generous support from the Whitaker Foundation, we’re able to offer all these events for FREE!
