First of two Chesterfield outlet malls opens August 2nd
St. Louis is about to up the ante on your favorite sport!
In August not one, but two, outlet centers join the fabulous lineup of shopping options in St. Louis. The centers add to an impressive lineup of malls, specialty stores and boutique shops already in the area. A fitting addition to a destination that traces its shopping roots back to its founding almost 250 years ago as a trading outpost on the edge of civilization!
It’s celebration time this weekend in suburban Chesterfield–just 20 minutes from downtown–as Taubman Premium Outlets marks its grand opening with three exciting days of entertainment, special offers and more. St. Louis Premium Outlets, also in Chesterfield, opens Aug. 22.
Taubman’s kick-off weekend begins with a give-away. The first 1,000 shoppers (age 16 or older) in line at the mall entrance near Brooks Brothers will receive $25 gift cards when the gates open at 9:15 a.m. Go to http://www.taubmanprestigeoutlets.com/rules_gcgiveaway for all of the rules.
Fred Bird and Rally Squirrel will entertain those waiting in line with the official ribbon cutting ceremony beginning at 9:30 a.m. Musicians and others will provide live entertainment throughout opening weekend. Rams cheerleaders and Rampage will make an appearance on Sunday.
Taubman Premium Outlets promises St. Louis a new shopping experience, Colleen O’Neill, the center’s general manager, says. The large outlet lifestyle center concept is a new one for St. Louis, she adds.
“The look and feel of us is totally different,” she says. “You don’t pull up to the retailers. You enjoy a ‘Main Street mentality.’ You’ve got kiddie rides, family restaurants, food courts and some unique finds to St. Louis.”
Those “finds” include Furla, a European luxury accessories retailer, which will open their first outlet store in the Midwest at the center and Wacoal, an international intimate apparel brand. Uno de 50, a Spanish accessories retailer, will open their first outlet location in the U.S. at the center as well. And, Taubman will be home to The Collective Outlets, the second location of local boutique co-op The Collective.
Other shops you’ll find at the center: Abercrombie & Fitch Outlet, abercrombie kids, 2b bebe Outlet, Lucky Brand Outlet, Brooks Brothers Factory Store, Bettie Page, Johnston & Murphy Factory Store, Love Culture Outlet, Solstice Sunglass Outlet, Steve Madden, Gap Factory Store, American Eagle Outfitters, Broadway, Brookstone, Cellairis, Chic, Famous Footwear Outlet, Jewelry Box, Mark Anthony Collection, Teavana and Hickory Farms.
With 310,000 square feet of space, the center stretches a quarter mile from one end to the other, O’Neill says.
The center is expected to draw visitors from throughout Missouri, as well as neighboring states.
Travel planners will be happy to know Taubman is offering a variety of tourism promotional packages:
Passport to Savings. Guests from outside a 50-mile radius of the center can participate in the Passport to Savings program, a collection of savings and special offers from retailers at the center. The Passport booklets will be available at Customer Service located in the food court.
Shop America Tour Packages. Taubman is partnering with Shop America to offer out-of-town shoppers “Shop & Play” and “Shop ‘Til You Drop” packages featuring a Taubman Prestige Outlets gift card, Passport to Savings, and shopping tote bag.
Hotel Packages. Several area hotels, including select Marriott, Hampton Inn, Drury Hotels and Comfort Inn locations, will offer “Shop and Stay” packages with special hotel rates, Prestige Outlets gift card, Passport to Savings booklet, and other perks. Select hotels offer accommodations for dogs as well.
Local shoppers can get in on the goodies, too, with the Friends and Family Rewards Program. Local area shoppers who bring a friend or family member from outside a 50-mile radius of the center will be able to participate in the Passport to Savings program.
Taubman Prestige Outlets is easily accessible off Highway I-64/Highway 40 at the Boone’s Crossing exit. Normal shopping hours are 10 a.m.-9 p.m., Monday-Saturday, and 11a.m.-6 p.m., Sunday.
And Poochie can join you in your shopping adventure.
That’s right–Taubman is pet-friendly. The center offers “dog comfort stations” where dogs can get a drink of water and shoppers can get a bag to clean up after accidents. “Three-quarters of our stores are dog friendly so you can actually shop in the store with your dog,” O’Neill says.
Some stores have even offered to put up “doggie watering holes” which Taubman will “absolutely allow,” she says adding, “It kind of adds to the family environment.”
Taubman has four other dog-friendly centers which are very well-received by the public, O’Neill says. “Even in the cold of winter in Detroit, people are bringing out their dogs,” she adds.
While Taubman Centers Inc. is headquartered in Bloomfield, Michigan, O’Neill, St. Louis is a born-and-bred St. Louisan.
A unique feature of the center will be the “Doggie Hall of Fame. For $40 dog owners can order a tile with a photo of themselves and their pet on the center’s website. The tile would then be hung in the Hall of Fame.
St. Louis Premium Outlets will house 90 outlets stores including Armani Outlet, Kate Spade New York, Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5th and Michael Kors. Shoppers can expect 25-65 % savings every day on their favorite designer and brand names, Emily Zimmermann, director of Marketing and Business Development at St. Louis Premium Outlets, says.
They can save even more by signing up for the VIP Shopper Club online, she says. “We’ve already had thousands of shoppers sign up so we know the community is eagerly anticipating our opening on Aug. 22,” she adds.
St. Louis Premium Outlets’ “sophisticated village-style setting with a racetrack design” provides an upscale atmosphere for shoppers, Zimmermann says. The center is divided into shopping districts names after local rivers and throughout the property shoppers will observe art installations from area artisans. “Shoppers will be welcomed by an information center and can enjoy our food court or relax in our air-conditioned media room,” she says.
The center is expected to draw visitors to the St. Louis area from a wide radius and will be marketed as a destination both nationally and internationally.
