Rams Implement Fan Text Messaging System

The NFL’s St. Louis Rams have joined with In Stadium Solutions (ISS) in implementing a text-message based communication system at the Edward Jones Dome. The system, which was installed in 2009, is available during all of the Rams’ home football games.

The text messaging system, which is also used by venues in other major sporting leagues including the National Basketball Association, Major League Baseball and NASCAR, allows fans to communicate directly with the stadium’s command post and notify personnel if assistance is needed inside the stadium. The Rams communicate the new text messaging capabilities via publications, in-stadium signage and announcements.

“We’re excited to bring this innovative technology to the Edward Jones Dome and add another element that enhances the fan experience,” said Kitty Ratcliffe, president of the St. Louis Convention & Visitors Commission (CVC). “Using this text messaging system allows our staff to increase their efficiency in responding to fans’ concerns and help improve security in the facility.”

“The Rams are always looking to enhance our fans’ game day experience and we think this will be a valuable addition,” said Kevin Demoff, chief operating officer of the St. Louis Rams. “If there are any issues, fans will be able to alert security without having to leave their seat.”

The CVC operates the America’s Center convention complex and the Edward Jones Dome.

This system has also been used at such major premier sporting events as the NCAA’s 2009 BCS Championship Game, Super Bowl XLIII and the World Baseball Classic. ISS is a privately held company based in South Florida. Their marketing and technical team has years of experience in text message marketing and mobile phone content solutions.

The St. Louis Convention & Visitors Commission is the official destination marketing organization for St. Louis City and St. Louis County.
