Happy Thanksgiving Eve, everyone! Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and if your family is anything like mine, then you’re really looking forward to the holiday weekend. Here are five things you’ll want to make sure you don’t miss this weekend in St. Louis so you can start creating your Thanksgiving weekend plans!

Missouri Botanical Garden Gardenland ExpressMissouri Botanical Garden – Gardenland Express: A Passion for Plant – November 26 – January 4
All aboard for the Gardenland Express! This Botanical Gardens holiday tradition features a G-scale train winding through a miniature winter wonderland. Watch with your family as the Gardenland Express passes twinkling trees, snowflakes and quaint rural towns.

Hungry Turkey 5k – November 27
Benefiting Operation Food Search, this Thanksgiving day race winds around Downtown and awards prizes to those who beat the “hungry turkey” creature as it makes its way through the race. Registration will remain open until the day of the race.

Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House- Winter Jewels: A Holiday Celebration – November 28 – January 4
Surround yourself with the magic of the season! Escape the cold and experience Winter Jewels at the Butterfly House! Go on a treasure hunt through our Animal Exhibit Hall, discover fairies in our Tropical Conservatory, and make new friends in the Gnome Forest. But be sure to guard your treasure and watch out for battling pirate cockroaches!

Historic Holiday Traditions at the Old Courthouse: Holiday Kick Off Performance – November 28 – 29
The National Park Service kicks off the holiday season at the Old Courthouse on Saturday, November 28 & 29 with a performance from the St. Louis Irish Arts, and a concert by the St. Louis Confluence Chamber Orchestra.  Guests may enjoy cookies, hot cider and beautiful music under the rotunda festively adorned with authentic Victorian decorations.

MSHSAA Show-Me Bowl High School Football Championships  – November 28 – 29
