10 Events Happening in St. Louis this March
March means it’s almost spring in St. Louis, and there are plenty of ways to get out and enjoy the sunrise and warmer temperatures this month in and around the city. From the St. Patrick’s Day parades to the beautiful display of colors at the Butterfly House’s Morpho Mardi Gras event, St. Louis hosts tons of events during the month of March.
Morpho Mardi Gras at the Butterfly House | Through March 31
Escape the cold by visiting Morpho Mardi Gras: Bugs, Butterflies and Beads! Bring your Krewe to the carnival during the months of February and March. Join the party at our Bugs on Parade, make a masquerade mask, and immerse yourself in a sea of blue as the Butterfly House floods the tropical conservatory with thousands of Blue Morpho butterflies. With the sounds of jazz in the air, inaugurate the season with these and other majestic creatures.
Missouri Botanical Garden Orchid Show | Through March 25
Immerse yourself in a tropical oasis brimming with vibrant blooming orchids at the Orchid Show, a once-a-year opportunity to view a rotating display of hundreds of orchids from the Garden’s expansive living collection. On select March 8 and 22, experience the orchid show in a whole new light during Orchid Nights. Enjoy exclusive lighted viewings of the orchid displays, sip and sample libations and take in live music. Cash bar and small bites available for purchase.
Arch Madness | March 2 – 5
Are you ready for some college hoops? Scottrade Center has you covered with the perennial favorite 2018 State Farm MVC Men’s Basketball Tournament (Mar. 1-4) and the 2018 SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament (Mar. 7-11) being held in St. Louis for the first time. Catch all the excitement as teams compete for conference supremacy and coveted bids to the NCAA Tournament.
Builders Home and Garden Show | March 8 – 11
The Builders St. Louis Home & Garden Show, produced by the Home Builders Association of St. Louis and Eastern Missouri, is Missouri’s largest home product market place! For nearly 40 years the Show has been THE place for area consumers to see, touch, compare and buy everything they need for their homes, yards and gardens. Approximately 400 exhibitors, many local, in 1,800 booths fill almost 400,000 square feet of America’s Center. New products, informative speakers, exciting attractions and family fun areas make the Home & Garden Show a must-see event!
Schlafly Stout & Oyster Festival | March 23 – 24
It’s Schlafly’s biggest food & beer festival of the year! Schlafly files in over 70,000 fresh oysters and teams of star shuckers from both coasts. Indulge in several varieties of oysters and pair them with 15 styles of Schlafly stout: Oatmeal Stout, Coffee Stout, Nitro Irish Stout, Extra Irish Stout and Oyster Stout.
St. Patrick’s Day Parades | March 17
St. Paddy’s Day is upon us once again! The Ancient Order of Hibernians Parade (Mar. 17) kicks off in the Dogtown Neighborhood at 10:00 a.m. and runs down Tamm Ave. The 49th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade (Mar. 17) will take place beginning at 1 p.m. in downtown St. Louis. The parade features over 120 units, including marching bands, floats, large balloon characters and 5000 participants. Before the parade, there is a 5-mile St. Patrick’s Day Parade Run through the streets of downtown St. Louis starting at 9 a.m.
Catch a show at the Fox Theatre | March 2 – 4 and 20 – April 1
A magnificently restored theatre in the Grand Center Arts District is the perfect venue to see the hottest Broadway shows and concerts in St. Louis. Shows coming to the Fabulous Fox Theatre in March include “Chicago, (March 2 – 4″ and “The Color Purple. (March 20 – April 1)”

Sunken Cities: Egypt’s Lost Worlds | March 25 – September 9
Mark your calendar! The North American premiere of Sunken Cities: Egypt’s Lost Worlds, an exhibition showcasing works of art from one of the greatest finds in the history of underwater archaeology, will be on view at The Saint Louis Art Museum beginning March 25 and run through September 9, 2018. The exhibit will feature colossal, 16-foot-tall sculptures and other discovered artifacts from two ancient Egyptian cities that were lost to the Mediterranean Sea over 1,200 years ago.
