12 Events Happening in St. Louis this July

Summer has officially started which means parades, fun, and fireworks at the many 4th of July festivities in the St. Louis area. But that’s not all! After Independence Day there is still tons of fun to be had. Here are recommendations for things to do in July in St. Louis.

Fair St. Louis | July 4 – 7

Fair St. Louis is one of the biggest events of the summer. The fair offers a chance to celebrate Independence Day with music, food, kids’ activities and fireworks. This event will take place at the Arch Grounds. This year’s headliners are Amelia Eisenhauer, Andy Grammer, and Jason Derulo.

USA Fencing 2018 National Championships | Through July 7

USA Fencing National Championships and July Challenge will take place from June 28 – July 7. The 10-day event will bring more than 4,000 competitors from throughout the nation to St. Louis where the best fencers in the United States will vie for gold at the America’s Center

The Muny Season Continues | July 1 – 31

The Muny is continuing its extraordinary season in Forest Park. Shows for July are Singin’ in the Rain, Jersey Boys, Annie and Gypsy.

Flora Borealis | Through August 26

The Missouri Botanical Garden newest exhibit Flora Borealis is underway, a nighttime multimedia exhibit using custom light, sounds, and moving images.  The month-long event begins opens to the public Friday, June 29. The one-mile narrated walk winds through some of the most beloved areas in the park, like the bottlebrush area and the Tower Grove house. Like the park itself, the path is handicap accessible and on average an hour long, allowing visitors plenty of time for strolling and gawking. As they weave through the path, patrons will notice different techniques used to bring the park alive.

Whitaker Music Festival | July 4 – 25

The open-air festival at the Missouri Botanical Garden continues through July.  This month the free Wednesday concerts under the stars will feature Funky Butt Brass Band and Ivas Jazz Band.  Admission to the Garden is free on Wednesdays after 5 p.m., and the concerts begin at 7:00 p.m. Everyone is invited to bring lawn chairs, blankets a picnic dinner and gather around the Cohen Amphitheater. Food and drinks are also for sale at the Garden.

Art Hill Film Series | July 13 – 27

Join the fun this summer and head to the 9th annual Art Hill Film Series. Watch a film, listen to live music, bring a picnic, or get a meal from a host of food trucks! The films will be inspired by the remarkable story behind Sunken Cities: Egypt’s Lost Worlds.  These four films follow the search for something vital. Discover other lives, other eras, and other worlds with these Epic Quests. The party starts at 6 pm and the film starts at 9 pm!

Let Them Eat Art | July 13

The 13th Annual Let Them Eat Art event is happening on Friday the 13th! This is Maplewood’s original honor to Bastille Day.  The event features live art demos by local artists, live music, and food & drink by Maplewood’s award-winning food sources.

St. Louis Filmmakers Showcase | July 13 – July 22

The Whitaker St. Louis Filmmakers Showcase, an annual presentation of the nonprofit Cinema St. Louis, serves as the area’s primary venue for films made by local artists. The Showcase screens works that were written, directed, edited, or produced by St. Louis natives or films with strong local ties. The 12 film programs that screened at the Tivoli from July 13-22 serve as the Showcase’s centerpiece. The programs range from full-length fiction features and documentaries to multi-film compilations of fiction and documentary shorts. Programs with feature-length films include post-screening Q&As with filmmakers.

2018 St. Louis Brewers Heritage Festival | July 14

The 12th Annual St. Louis Brewers Heritage Festival is the premiere showcase of the St. Louis beer scene. This festival features over 100 styles of beer from over 50 greater STL area breweries, home brew club tastings, live music, and great food all in an idyllic setting at the foot of the Grand Basin in Forest Park. 6th Annual Midwest Belgian Beer Fest | July 29

Perennial Artisan Ales is having their seventh annual Midwest Belgian Beer Fest. Join them and 60 of their favorite and closest brewery friends for a celebration of good beer and good times.  It’s all going down during the St. Louis Craft Beer Week on Sunday, July 29 at the Local 36 Union Hall.

Destination Moon: The Apollo 11 Mission | July 24 – August 28

The Saint Louis Science Center is one of four science museums nationwide that will host “Destination Moon: The Apollo 11 Mission,” a traveling exhibition from the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C.

STAGES St. Louis Presents: Mamma Mia | July 20 – August 19

The ultimate feel-good show, MAMMA MIA! uses the music of ABBA to tell the hilarious and touching tale of a teen’s search for her birth father on a Greek Island paradise.  See why 54 million people all around the world have fallen in love with this pop-music phenomenon of a mother, a daughter, three possible dads, and an unforgettable trip down the aisle!
