Happy Friday! Here are the five things you won’t want to miss this weekend in St. Louis including St. Louis Brewers’ Picnic, Dan & Phil at the Fox Theatre and more.
St. Louis Brewers’ Picnic | July 27
The official opening ceremonies of 2018 St. Louis Craft Beer Week! This is a family-friendly city picnic, featuring beers from local breweries! Enjoy craft beer, delicious fare from Baileys’ Range, beats by DJ MAKossa, and fun activities. This free event is open to the public, with beer and food for purchase, and is located outdoors on Locust Street between 10th and 11th.
West Side Story | July 27–28
One of the greatest shows of the American musical theatre canon; not to be missed! West Side Story sets Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet in 1950s New York City as the two star-crossed young lovers find themselves caught between warring street gangs. From the first notes to the final breath, their struggle to survive in a world of violence and prejudice remains one of the most memorable and powerful musical dramas of our time. COCA’s show is directed by Jim Butz, with choreography from COCA alum Christopher Page-Sanders.
Dan & Phil | July 29
Dan and Phil present their new stage show—Interactive Introverts. Two internet dwelling, insecure nerds standing under the spotlight to give the people what they want: an epic interactive experience of rants, roasts, battles, stories…and surprises that will make you laugh, cry, cringe and puts the audience in control unlike anything before! Their newest stage show, Interactive Introverts, comes to the Fox this Sunday.
The Muny: Gypsy | July 27 – August 2
Revered by many as the greatest musical ever written, Gypsy is the timeless tale of an ambitious stage mother, Momma Rose, fighting for her daughters’ success…while secretly yearning for her own. With a book by Academy Award-winner Arthur Laurents and lyrics by Tony Award-winner Stephen Sondheim, Gypsy features countless showstoppers, including “Let Me Entertain You,” and “Together, Wherever We Go.” Take our word for it, “You Gotta Get a Gimmick,” or better yet a ticket, to see this spectacular Muny gem shine.
Art Hill Film Series: Dr. No | August 27
In the film that launched the James Bond saga, Agent 007 battles the mysterious Dr. No, a scientific genius bent on destroying the U.S. space program. The food trucks and music start at 6 p.m. The film will begin at 9 p.m.
