Wizard World Comic Con | April 1–3
Calling all superheroes (not to mention sidekicks and evil masterminds): Wizard World returns to America’s Center this weekend, and it’s not just about comics and cosplay anymore. You’ll find everything here from anime to wrestling to homegrown comedy.
Lupulin Carnival 2016 | April 2
The street in front of 4Hands will be filled with kegs of beer, food trucks, carnival acts and games and a ferris wheel to celebrate the release of Warhammer, an imperial IPA. All carnival game proceeds will be donated to Winter Outreach
National Blues Museum Grand Opening | April 2
National Blues Museum officially opens to the public on Saturday. The day will begin with a musical procession from the Normandy High School marching band at 9:30 a.m. The band will start marching at the corner of Sixth and Washington Avenue and lead a procession to the front door of the museum. The procession will be followed by remarks from Chairman of the Board Rob Endicott, Executive Director Dion Brown, and Mayor Francis Slay. After the ribbon cutting, the museum will officially open its doors to the public at 10:00 a.m. Once the doors open, there will be an all-day rotation of live entertainment inside the Lumière Place Legends Room until 4:00 p.m. Visitors can also tour artist H.C. Porter’s “Blues @ Home: Mississippi’s Living Blues Legends” exhibition, which will be on view in the Scott and Diane McCuaig and Family Gallery.
38th Annual Spring Art Fair at Queeny Park | April 1 – 3
One of the St. Louis art community’s most anticipated events returns with the 38th Annual Spring Art Fair at Queeny Park (April 1-3). Nearly 135 juried artists from more than 20 states will be on hand to display and sell their original works in the climate-controlled Greensfelder Recreation Center. This is your chance to find the next great piece to your personal collection and meet some of the most talented artists in the Midwest and around the country!
Meet Me Outdoors in St. Louis Weekend Festival | April 2 – 3
Kick-start spring during this fun weekend festival by celebrating the great outdoors. In addition to the seasonal reopenings of the Children’s Garden, Tower Grove House, Café Flora and tram rides, the recently renovated Brookings Exploration Center will debut, as well as the new PlantLab, a greenhouse-like space for hands-on plant science and stewardship. You can register for hands-on wildlife-habitat building sessions and check out exhibitors from across the region beckoning you to explore and discover St. Louis’s great outdoors. You’ll even take home a native tree!
Swan Lake presented by Saint Louis Ballet | April 1 – 3
This weekend, ballet lovers will swoon over the Saint Louis Ballet’s presentation of the classic Swan Lake at the Touhill Performing Art Center at UMSL. Composed by Tchaikovsky in 1875-76, the ballet tells the story of the princess Odette who was turned into a swan by an evil sorcerer’s curse.
