5 Things To Do This Weekend in St. Louis 6/17 – 6/19
Happy Friday! It’s time for another fun-filled weekend in St. Louis. If you are still pulling your plans together, here are a few suggestions to help make this a memorable weekend.
Grow Exhibit | Opens June 18
Ever wonder how all those exotic fruits and vegetables come to market? Our Saint Louis Science Center has all the answers down to a science with “Grow,” an exhibit that provides plenty of food for thought for young and old alike.
Tribute to David Bowie | June 17
The STL Symphony, conductor Brent Havens and a full rock band are bringing the best of David Bowie to St. Louis on Friday, June 17. Enjoy some of the best Bowie songs, including “Space Oddity,” “Changes,” “Golden Years,” “Rebel Rebel” and more.
The Wizard of Oz | Runs until June 22
Whenever Dorothy and her friends follow their hearts down the yellow brick road, you’re guaranteed an evening of enchantment. Head to Forest Park to enjoy one of the most popular shows in Muny history.
Self-Taught Genius: Treasures from the American Folk Art Museum | June 19 – September 11
Organized by the American Folk Art Museum, this traveling exhibit includes more than 100 works from self-taught artists. Some worked anonymously in the 19th century; some of them are well-known and contemporary. The show also includes a wide range of mediums, including needlework, ceramics, painting, drawing, sculpture, painted furniture, and texts. Well-known names on the list include Achilles Rizzoli, Henry Darger, and Bill Traylor, but the works credited to “Unknown,” are just as powerful.
Circus Flora: Pastime | Runs until July 3
Circus Flora turns 30 this summer and pays tribute to its home-base city with Pastime, a toast to St. Louis’ favorite sport. Set during the 1950s, it follows the scrappy—and unbelievably acrobatic—Mound City Zephyrs.
