5 Things To Do This Weekend in St. Louis 8/11 – 8/13
Happy Friday! It’s time for another fun-filled weekend in St. Louis. If you are still pulling your plans together for the weekend, here are a few suggestions to help.
Newsies at The Muny | August 11 – 13
It’s the last show of the season at The Muny. See the cult 1992 film became a smash 2012 Broadway musical, and Newsies now makes its long-awaited Muny premiere. With incredible music by Alan Menken, Newsies reveals the thrilling story of the Newsboy Strike of 1899 and how a bunch of rag tag orphans took on the mighty Joe Pulitzer and nearly brought down the city of New York.
Grub and Groove Festival | August 12
The sixth annual Grub & Groove, presented by Alliance Credit Union, is Saturday, August 12, from 3-10 p.m.! Benefiting the non-profit Friends of Francis Park, this event raises money to maintain and improve the park. This year you can enjoy a free concert featuring local musicians while noshing on food from a bunch of St. Louis’ best resturants and sipping on beer from 4 Hands Brewery. There will also be plenty of fun for the whole family, including kids activities, throughout the afternoon and into the evening!
Blues at the Arch | August 11
St. Louis’ rich Blues heritage is celebrated with live music every Friday in August. Visitors are invited to bring blankets and lawn chairs. Food and drinks will be available for purchase from vendors on site and coolers and picnics are allowed. This Friday, music lovers can enjoy music from Carolyn Mason, Mickey Rogers, and David Dee.
Garden of Glass at Night | August 11 – 12
See artist Craig Mitchell Smith’s Garden of Glass, kiln-fired glass exibit at the Missouri Botanical Garden at night. These enormous glass flowers are truly spectacular at night. The event includes food and drinks (including a special cocktail called “The Drunken Dragonfly”), live music, and demos with St. Louis’ own Third Degree Glass Factory.
St. Louis Cardinals vs Atlanta Braves | August 11 – 13
See the St. Louis Cardinals take on the Atlanta Braves this weekend at Busch Stadium.
