8th Annual Tennessee Williams Festival

September 7 - September 17

During the 8th Annual Tennessee Williams Festival, Tennessee Williams St. Louis will offer a series of artistic and educational events, inviting the public to discover the profound influence that St. Louis had upon the playwright’s life and work as well as the way that historical events shaped his writing.

Thanks to the generous support of the Whitaker Foundation, Tennessee Williams St. Louis will present its mainstage production, Suddenly Last Summer, at COCA’s Catherine B. Berges Theatre during the festival.

Curated to thematically align with performance offerings, educational events serve to interpret and illuminate the topics raised in Williams’ writing.

Educational and interpretive activities include commentaries and Q&As after performances of Suddenly Last Summer; the Tennessee Williams Tribute, a reading and discussion of thematically connected sections of Williams’ plays, stories, poetry and letters by actors, singers and celebrity guests; the Scholar Conference, a series of panels that are open to the public; and guided walking tours of important St. Louis sites related to Williams.
