Ancient Order of Hibernians Saint Patrick’s Day Parade
There will be plenty of music, marchers and lots and lots of green at the “Traditional” Ancient Order of Hibernians Saint Patrick’s Day Parade and the 3nd Annual Dogtown Irish Festival on Tuesday, March 17 in Dogtown, one of St. Louis’ oldest Irish neighborhoods. The big St Pat’s celebration kicks off at 11:00am with the 37th annual parade.
Following the parade, the streets of Dogtown will be turned into a sea of green when the Irish Festival begin. For the first time ever a Family Area will be set up in the eastern portion of the Turtle Park. The Family Area will feature traditional Irish music, food and drink for kids and parents, and several interactive family attractions. Among the attractions confirmed so far is Fredbird, juggling and face painting, and Irish Dancing demonstrations! The festival main stage, located at Clayton and Art Hill, will feature live music from Rusty Nail from 1pm to 5pm.
Once again there is a “no cooler/backpack” rule for this year’s events. This was a result of concerns concerning trash, underage drinking and “binge” drinking. In the interest of public safety, all glass containers will be banned.
