Early Music Missouri presents “Invasive Species in Mediterranean Musical Culture”

Early Music Missouri's 2024 -2025 Season opens with a recital at the Museum of Contemporary Religious Art on the campus of Saint Louis University.

Performed by soprano Samantha Arten, Baroque guitarist Patrick Rafferty and lutenist Jeffery Noonan, the performance features Italian and Spanish music from the 16th- and 17th-centuries performed on early guitars, lutes and theorbo. Featured composers include Josquin de Prez, Claudio Monteverdi, Giorlamo Frescobaldi, Santiago de Murcia and others. The music includes Italian madrigals, Spanish guitar music and virtuosic Italian arias.

The concert takes place on September 15, 2024 at the Museum of Contemporary Religious Art in Fusz Hall, 3700 West Pine Boulevard in the heart of the Saint Louis University campus. Admission is $20 at the door with reduced admission for students. Students under 16, Saint Louis University students, staff and faculty are free. Free parking is available on the street and nearby garages. Handicapped parking and elevator accessibility to the space is also available.

Early Music Missouri is the region's foremost presenter and promoter of professional Early Music. Its concerts feature Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque music performed on period instruments by experts from across the region and nation.
