Guest Speaker: Stephen Davis, “Mormonising Political and Religious Dissent in Nineteeth-Century Missouri”
The Field House Museum is partnering with the Missouri Humanities Council to bring you Stephen Davis as part of our Speaker Series. Davis, a former assistant US attorney and Mitt Romney’s election law counsel for the State of Missouri, will be presenting: “Mormonising” Political and Religious Dissent in Nineteenth-Century Missouri.” This program will focus on how Missouri officials handled what they called a “Mormon Problem” in the 1830s and how the same officials would later handle slavery and abolitionists.
