Visit the Field House Museum and delight in the toys on display in the charming 19th century family home. Holiday magic and splendor fills each room in a blend of old and new. Guests will see German feather trees from the 1800s alongside Barbie, Lincoln Logs, Cabbage Patch Kid, G.I. Joe, Easy Bake Oven, your favorite storybook characters, and more! Adults and children alike will enjoy these nostalgic displays, making it the perfect family outing for the holidays.


Tour guides will lead you through the house and tell you of Eugene Field, the “Children’s Poet,” and his father, Roswell Field, the key attorney for Dred Scott. Self-guided exhibits are located on the third floor of the home and in the expansion. Current exhibits are: Life in Miniature, The Power of Words: The Ongoing Tale of Black Children’s Literature, Tails of Friendship, Steiff Everlasting, and Binding the Written Works.
