See STL Walking Tour – Urban Renewal

February 25 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
|Recurring Event (See all)

St. Louis underwent a dramatic makeover during the mid-20th century. In the name of progress, large sections of the city were bulldozed to make way for new highways, parks, stadiums and high-rises.

The area around St. Louis Union Station was ground zero for some of the city’s largest urban renewal projects. While these projects drastically reshaped the city, they also displaced thousands.

Come learn about the people and places that made the Chestnut Valley and Mill Creek Valley neighborhoods so special, the public policies that led to their destruction and the impact those policies still have on the area today.

This two-hour tour, like all See STL walking tours, is wheelchair accessible.
