No matter your age, interests or budget, you’ll find something fun to do in St. Louis this weekend.
Madrina, an Italian-American restaurant in Webster Groves, will host a three-part dining experience, celebrating diversity in the St. Louis culinary space.
Helmed by executive chef Tim Adams, the Silk Road Dinner Series will take place monthly, bringing together some of St. Louis’ most celebrated culinary talents. See the full schedule below.
Inspired by the famous trade route pioneered by Marco Polo, the Silk Road Dinner Series explores the combination of cultures throughout Europe and Asia. What started as a shift within the culinary landscape has come to inspire a bigger goal to represent diversity and cultural celebration in St. Louis. The series will highlight various regions along the historic Silk Road through ingredients, techniques and recipes passed down by generations of chefs.
Madrina will donate 20 percent of proceeds from the series to the International Institute of St. Louis, which champions immigrant and refugee communities to create a welcoming, prosperous and healthy region.
“Food and culture are historically intertwined,” Adams said in a recent press release. “Food is a universal language that transcends borders, and we want to celebrate that while giving back to an organization that does so much for our community. The Silk Road Dinner Series invites guests to immerse themselves in flavors such as clove, ginger, turmeric and cinnamon that have shaped so many people’s lives in our city.”
The dinner series schedule is as follows:
June 18 at 6 p.m.
Guest chef Julie Truong of DD Mau will blend Vietnamese and Italian flavors.
July 18 at 6 p.m.
Guest chef Nick Bognar of Indo and Sado will fuse Southeast Asian cuisine and Italian-American recipes.
August 20 at 6 p.m.
Guest chef Loryn Nalic of Balkan Treat Box will combine Italian-American techniques and bold Balkan flavors.
