No matter your age, interests or budget, you’ll find something fun to do in St. Louis this weekend.
City Winery St. Louis presents SIMRIT live on May 22nd at 7:30pm!
Transcending genres with their eccentric blend of instruments and lineages, the SIMRIT experience is based around lead singer-songwriter, Simrit, of Greek and North African descent, born in Athens, Greece and adopted by Greek Americans into South Carolina. SIMRIT is creating waves with packed theaters and concert halls, chart-topping albums, and a devoted cult following world-wide that is powering a palpable musical movement. Traditional folk music from Simrit’s roots, Neo-Soul, Jazz, Roots Reggae, and Motown have proven deeply influential as Simrit developed her unique sound using her evocative and soaring vocals, harmonium, and keyboard.
Filling out the SIMRIT sound and experience is Salif Bamakora on the 21-string West African kora, Jared May on bass & Moog synthesizer, Devon Ashley on drums, and Heidi Gluck on keyboards and guitar.
SIMRIT's music is known for its healing effect...with the hypnotic, deep-pocket groove boasting a haunting beauty, edge, and mind-bending atmosphere.
