No matter your age, interests or budget, you’ll find something fun to do in St. Louis this weekend.
The St. Louis Independent Comics Expo (SLICE) is St. Louis’s premier annual indie-print showcase, bringing together over 100 writers, artists, poets, and printmakers from St. Louis and beyond to showcase their self-published books, comics, zines, magazines, poetry, and more. SLICE 2024 takes place on October 26, 10 a.m.–5 p.m., at the Sheldon Concert Hall and Art Galleries. The expo is free and open to the public.
Programming for the day includes a caricature workshop, portrait drawing, and bookkeeping and accounting tips for working creatives from the Volunteer Lawyers and Accountants for the Arts (VLAA). Spotlight lectures on SLICE 2024 Special Guests Mattie Lubchanksy (Boy’s Weekend, The Nib, The Antifa Super-Soldier Cookbook) and Jamila Rowser (Wash Day Diaries, Black Josei Press) will also be a part of the day's events, as well as a conversation between comics writer Nadia Shammas (Squire, Ms. Marvel, Dead by Daylight) and local artist Shreyas R Krishnan, and a panel on sci-fi narratives with comics artist L. Pidge (Infinite Wheatpaste) and accompanying artists.
