PROKOFIEV Piano Concerto No. 2
PROKOFIEV Alexander Nevsky

Music Director Designate Stéphane Denève leads a tour-de-force program devoted to Russian composer, Sergei Prokofiev, featuring the cinematic score, Alexander Nevsky.

  • Written in 1938 as the score to accompany a historic epic on the big screen, Alexander Nevsky is a dramatic cantata that transcends film as a masterful work for orchestra, chorus and mezzo-soprano.
  • The Independent (London) declares, “Yefim Bronfman is a pianist with a wondrous capacity to galvanize a hall, particularly with the Russian repertoire (such as Prokofiev’s Second Piano Concerto) which is his specialty.”
  • The glittering fairytale of Cinderella comes to life with selections from Prokofiev’s vibrant and colorful ballet score.
