Hailed by The New Yorker as “one of the finest, most searching songwriters of the day,” Gabriel Kahane has been exploring the relationship between humanity and technology for the better part of a decade. In this evening, Aaron Copland’s timeless Appalachian Spring is brought into conversation with Kahane’s Book of Travelers, a musical account of a nearly 9,000-mile railway journey, as well as his new album, Magnificent Bird, which chronicles the final month of an entire year off the internet. Join Kahane, a master musical storyteller, in this meditation on love, loss, empathy, grace, forgiveness, and memory.
