Stitching History from the Holocaust

August 27 @ 10:00 am - 4:30 pm
|Recurring Event (See all)

Originally created by Jewish Museum Milwaukee, this moving exhibition brings to life the story of Hedwig Strnad, a talented Jewish dress designer from Prague whose dreams were cut short by the Holocaust.

Through Strnad’s surviving letters and original dress designs, the exhibition explores the tragic loss of talent, potential and human creativity at the hands of the Nazi regime.

This is more than a story of loss, though. Thanks to meticulous recreations of her designs, visitors can see Strnad’s work realized for the first time – a hauntingly beautiful tribute to a life interrupted.

Whether you’re passionate about design, fashion, history or human stories, this is one exhibition at the St. Louis Kaplan Feldman Holocaust Museum that you won’t want to miss.
