Hear this Week – Live Music in St. Louis November 20 – November 25
Sure, it’s Thanksgiving this week – but the turkey takes like hours to cook. While it does, get out of your kitchen and hear these Bands of Note:
Hear This Week:
Monday, November 20 – Betting the next time St. Vincent comes through town, it’ll be at an arena, so get out and catch her up close and personal at the Pageant while you still can. 8, $32–$70.
Wednesday, November 22 – Great night for local acts at the Old Rock House. The Mighty Pines, “bluegrass meets acoustic soul and rock and roll,” take the stage after the Hillary Fitz Band and River Kittens get the party started. Doors open at 8, $15.
Wednesday, November 22 – Want to get pumped for Thanksgiving? The Heavy Anchor is having its second annual Bassamp & Dano’s Pre-Thanksgiving Turkey Toss. Local rockers Brasky and punkers Tracing Wires perform. Be prepared to duck. 9, $7.
Friday, November 24 – What a time the Black Friday Ball will be! On the bill are the Well Hungarians and Queens Blvd., both big draws by themselves. Headlining is the great party band Dr. Zhivegas. It all takes place at Ballpark Village, so get down there and boogie off all that Turkey Day food you ate. 9, $15–$25.
Saturday, November 25 – For a mellow Saturday night, head to One 19 North Tapas and Wine Bar. Tonight, country singer/songwriter Aubry Rodriguez performs. 9, no cover.
What the Locals Know – Every Thursday night, Joanie’s Pizzeria is hosted by local guitarist/singer Wesley Adams. 9, no cover.
Music Note of Note: Did you know we have a banjo club? Ya do now. Since 1969, the St. Louis Banjo Club has brought the sounds of the four-string banjo to the enjoyment of locals everywhere. Catch them Saturday, November 26, as they present a free Dixieland jam at the Folk School at 8.
