Live Music in St. Louis – Hear This Week: August 6 – 11

Monday August 6, 2018

Do yourself a favor and get out and enjoy the enormous wealth of local live music our humble town has – and start with these Bands of Note:

Live Music in St. Louis

Monday, August 6 – Bomba Estereo comes to the Delmar Hall and you want to catch this this “electro vacilón electro tropical” band that has come all the way from Columbia (the country, not the Missouri town). Come expectiong to have your mind opened musically. Doors open at 7, $25.

Tuesday, August 7 – Take a drive out to O’Fallon, Missouri for the O’Fallon Jammin’ outdoor concert series. Settle in after hitting the food trucks and great country music from Orr & Rolens Band. 6:30 pm, free.

Thursday, August 9 – What if I told you one of the town’s absolutely greatest acts was playing at one of our absolutely hippest, fun venues? You’d go, right? Catch Miss Jubilee and the Humdingers at Joe’s Café. Doors open at 6:30 pm, it’s BYOB, and it’s $10 cash at the door.

Friday, August 10 – Go east to the beautiful Hidden Lake Winery where they kick off their “Winestock” weekend tonight with the Tres Tequilas at 9 pm. It continues through Sunday with Charlotte Street, Buffalo Road, and Champagne Fixx. No cover.

Saturday, August 11 – Down in South County at the ever-popular Helen Fitzgerald’s, Top Gunz takes the stage and lays out their 80s party rock music on you. Bring your mullet. 9 pm, no cover.

What the Locals Know: The historic Bevo Mill has been given a new lease on life, and part of that is featuring a lot of great live music, especially on Sunday. This Sunday afternoon check out Sweetie and the Toothaches in the Biergarten, 4:30 pm. No cover.

Music Note of Note: Once upon a time there was the Admiral, a mighty art-deco steamboat that was a hot bed of our area’s biggest and best live music acts. This happenin’ boat is now immortalized in a book by STL P-D scribe Joe Holleman, and Rollin’ on the River is a great read.
