Live Music in St. Louis – Hear This Week: June 10 – 15

Summer is definitely here because 1) kids are out of school and 2) we have a bunch of great outdoor happenings happening. Almost all of these are kid friendly! And they are all Bands of Note:
Live Music in St. Louis
Monday, June 10 – The Hawken House in Webster Groves kicks off their Summer Concert Series right with The Riverbend Bluegrass Band. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and cooler with food and beverages. 7 pm, free.
Tuesday, June 11 – At Heman Park in University City, Tom Poshak begins the organization’s 23rd season tonight. Here’s some great concert band music by local musicians – and bring a picnic basket! 7 pm, free.
Tuesday & Wednesday, June 12 and 13 – Phish makes a long-overdue return to St. Louis playing the Chaifetz Arena. It’s an arena, but intimate – perfect for this cherished band of jammers. And for two nights! How many people will be there for both? Like, all of them. 7:30 pm, $45–$85.
Friday, June 14 – The River Kittens come to Webster Groves’s Old Orchard Gazebo Music Series. Again … bring lawn chairs or a blanket, and a cooler! Local vendors are selling snacks and beer. This is always a good time. 7 pm, free.
Saturday, June 15 – Looking for something to do with the kids? As unlikely as this seems, Kidz Bop World Tours comes to the Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre. Nice and early too! 6 pm, $15–$45.
What the Locals Know: If you have an itching to be on the business side of a live music performance, you have plenty of opportunities in this town because we are filthy rich in open mic nights. We even have a website dedicated to all the ones happening. Just this week on Tuesday we have four – 1860s Saloon, Balentine’s Restaurant & Bar, Miss Aimee B’s Tearoom, and the Wolf. We have more than a dozen total going on during any week.
Music Note of Note: The Soulard neighborhood of St. Louis is a hot bed live music activity History of the neighborhood goes back to 1779 when the Soulard Market, still in operation, all started (and there’s always a musician or two jamming for tips). There are at least 32 bars in the area, most of which have live music – several or which outside on their patios on Saturday and Sunday afternoons!
