Live Music in St. Louis – Hear this Week: June 11–15
Travel and Leisure magazine has named St. Louis one of the top 25 cities for live music. We say we’re number one – get out and hear for yourself with these few Bands of Note:
Live Music in St. Louis
Monday, June 11 – The gypsy jazz duo Dizzy Atmosphere returns to the Shaved Duck. 5:30 pm, no cover.
Tuesday, June 12 – The Naked Vine out in Chesterfield has live music six nights a week, and tonight they are hosting a Singer/Songwriters Storytelling Showcase. Should be interesting. 7 pm, no cover.
Wednesday, June 13 – Live from Ireland, it’s a homecoming for the Celtic Women group. Tonight they return to the Fabulous Fox for an evening of music and dance. 7:30 pm, $47–$107.
Thursday, June 14 – At the Monocle we have Motherfolk, which, according to their website, have been “revered as the best band ever by almost all of its current members.” The six-member alt/rock/folk band from Cincinnati is definitely on the way up so catch them here. 8 pm, $10.
Friday, June 15 – The always wonderful Diana Kall brings her “Turn Up the Quiet World Tour” to the Peabody Opera House for what is sure to be a memorable concert of jazz and pop. 8 pm, $42–$122.
What the Locals Know: In Webster Groves during the summer, every Friday night they have “Music & Movie” at Gazebo Park. This week it’s the Gene Dobbs Bradford Blues Experience and the movie is … what else? The Blues Brothers. 7 pm, free.
Music Note of Note: Are you a member of the St. Louis Jazz Club? Well, what are you waiting for? This organization works to preserve, support and encourage traditional jazz in our city. They put on special concerts a couple of times of month putting the spotlight on the best local jazzers we have.
