Memorial Day in St. Louis signals the unofficial kick off of summer! There is so much to see and do in St. Louis. See for yourself!

St. Louis African Arts Festival | May 26-28

The St. Louis African Arts Festival features the African Marketplace, children’s activities, performing arts stage, food court, vendors, arts & crafts, cultural demonstrations, teen safari hunt, health and wellness village and more at Forest Park’s World’s Fair Pavilion.

St. Louis County Greek Festival | May 25-28

You’ll love this festival whether you’re Greek or just love Greek food. Enjoy the lively traditions of music, dancing and heritage. Be sure to visit the kids’ corner and take the church tour. The festival runs from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday  and from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. on Monday at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church.

Spring to Dance | May 25-26

The 11th Annual Emerson Spring to Dance returns to the Touhill Performing Arts Center for two nights of nonstop dance. Spring to Dance brings together more than 25 professional dance companies from across the country and beyond. From ballet, modern and contemporary to flamenco, hip-hop and more, the vibrant festival offers something for everyone with a distinct, dynamic program each night.

Schlafly’s  Art Outside: An Alternative Art Fair | May 25-27

Like beer, art brings people together. Since 2004, The Schlafly Art Outside: Alternative Art Fair  has been hosted at the Bottleworks location in Maplewood featuring one-of-a-kind local art and music.

Eckert’s Memorial Day Festival | May 26-28

Eckert’s Orchards in Belleville celebrates Memorial Day with a three-day festival complete with live music and food. There is plenty of fun to be had for the kids at this  event, including pony rides, a petting farm, carnival rides and inflatables.

Jungle Boogie Friday Night Concert Series | May 25-August 31

Beginning May 25, all ages can enjoy music on the outdoor stage every Friday night (5-8 p.m.) at the Zoo all summer long through Aug. 31. In addition to the music, there will be animal-related kid’s activities as well as many snack and dinner options. The full line up is available online. The Funky Butt Brass Band (Soul/Funk) is the first to start the Jungle Boogie concert series. Memorial Day also marks the beginning of extended weekend hours at the Saint Louis Zoo.

Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery | May 28

Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery is an impressive sight any day of the year, but even more so on Memorial Day. Each year, local boy scouts place small flags at each of the nearly 190,000 headstones on the cemetery grounds. There is also a special service at 10 a.m., in the cemetery chapel honoring all those who have served.

Alton Memorial Day Parade | May 28

Just 40 minutes from Downtown St. Louis, the Memorial Day Parade in Alton, Illinois, is definitely worth the trip. Celebrate Memorial Day by experiencing the oldest consecutive running parade in the entire nation. This year marks the 151st anniversary of the parade. The first one was held in 1868, just three years after the end of the Civil War. More than 50 participants will take part in the parade. Honor the history of Pie Town, Upper Alton and those that served our country. Bring your lawn chairs and line the streets to show your support and join in on the fun. The parade begins at Alton Middle School, 2200 College Ave.

Raging Rivers Waterpark Opening Day | May 26 – September

Start your summer off at the waterpark. Raging Rivers Waterpark in Grafton, IL opens for the season on May 26!

Grant’s Farm

Grant’s Farm will be open on Monday, May 28. Extended summer hours begin Friday, May 25 through August 24. The Farm will be open 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Enjoy live bands, food trucks, goat feeding, carousel rides, snow cones and more.

Gateway Memorial Classic | May 26-28

This soccer tournament will bring youth soccer teams from around the Midwest to the World Wide Technology Soccer Park, SLSG Creve Coeur Facility and Lou Fusz Soccer Complex.

St. Louis Senior Olympics | May 24-29

More than 1,000 athletes will participate in 90 events in this community-wide event at various venues.

Saint Louis Science Center | May 26 – 28

The Saint Louis Science Center is celebrating Memorial Day Weekend with a special offer for current and retired members of the military and their families. With a military identification, service men and women and veterans can receive free admission to: A film at the OMNIMAX® Theater, including the new film Aircraft Carrier: Guardian of the Seas opening on May 25, Special Exhibition Destination Moon: The Apollo 11 Mission, and a A star show at the James S. McDonnell Planetarium. Guests in the same party will each receive the regular military discount. Tickets must be purchased at one of the box offices at the Saint Louis Science Center.
