About

The Field House Museum is a historic house highlighting the lives of Eugene Field, the famous "Children's Poet", and his father Roswell Field, attorney for Dred Scott. Docent guided tours will take visitors through the historic house where your guide will tell you more about the Field family and what life would have been like in nineteenth-century St. Louis. Afterwards, visitors are welcome to spend as much time as they like exploring the rotating exhibit spaces, Eugene Field Library, and gift shop in the museum. Please visit our website for a list of current and upcoming exhibits. The Eugene Field House & St. Louis Toy Museum was opened December 18, 1936, as the first historic house museum in St. Louis. In 2007, the home was designated a National Historic Landmark.
