Award Recognizes Distinguished Service in the Travel, Tourism, Hospitality and Meetings Industry
ST. LOUIS (Oct. 18, 2018) – Explore St. Louis is pleased to announce that President Kitty Ratcliffe has received a prestigious Black Meetings & Tourism (BM&T) Apex Award for her distinguished service in the travel, tourism, hospitality and meetings industry. Ratcliffe is one of nine recipients chosen from a global pool of professionals who provide long-term benefits for the travel industry and the African-American market segment and represent a national level of prominence.
The BM&T Apex Awards are presented annually to a select number of individuals who have made outstanding contributions positively impacting the travel and tourism industry. This year the awards recognized a cross section of professionals ranging from a Caribbean ministry of tourism to the CEO of South African Tourism.
“It is an honor to receive a Black Meetings & Tourism Apex Award,” said Kitty Ratcliffe, president of Explore St. Louis. “Explore St. Louis has long valued the excellent work done by Black Meetings & Tourism. We have enjoyed a long relationship with BM&T and appreciate their guidance and insights.”
Ratcliffe came to Explore St. Louis, formerly known as the St. Louis Convention & Visitors Commission, in 2006, after serving as executive vice president for the New Orleans Metropolitan Convention and Visitors Bureau. She is responsible for the sales and marketing of St. Louis as a destination for visitors and the operations of both the Convention Center and the Dome at America’s Center. She is the only woman in the country running the operations of all three entities and has been doing so for twelve years.
