SOUTHERN LEGISLATIVE CONFERENCE CONVENES IN ST. LOUIS
Nation’s largest regional meeting for state legislators coming to St. Louis this summer
ST. LOUIS (July 19, 2018) – State legislators and policy experts from across 15 Southern states will gather in St. Louis and the Hyatt Regency St. Louis at The Arch (July 21-25, 2018) for the 72nd Annual Meeting of the Southern Legislative Conference (SLC).
“We are honored to host the premier public policy forum for Southern state legislatures, and we look forward to extending plenty of St. Louis hospitality to these policymakers during their stay” said Kathleen “Kitty” Ratcliffe, President of Explore St. Louis. “Not only is the Annual Meeting of the Southern Legislative Conference an important and prestigious event, this gathering will have a strong economic impact for our region.”
The meeting will generate nearly $2.1 million in direct spending for the St. Louis area with an estimated room demand of 2,900 hotel room nights that includes rooms at the Hyatt Regency St. Louis at The Arch and Drury Inn & Suites St. Louis Brentwood. Approximately 1,300 legislators, staff and guests will attend the four-day conference that will offer attendees and their guests access to some of St. Louis’ most popular attractions, as well as special events planned for Ballpark Village and the acclaimed Saint Louis Zoo.
Focusing on both existing and emerging state government innovations and solutions, the SLC Annual Meeting provides policy makers diverse opportunities to engage regional and national policy experts about the issues that matter most to them and their constituents. Of equal importance, the meetings allow state government officials to share their knowledge and experience with colleagues facing similar challenges and opportunities.
