Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, The River Tour | March 6
In early December, Bruce Springsteen released The Ties That Bind: The River Collection, a three-record retrospective that pulls from material around his 1980 release, The River. He is also celebrating the 35th anniversary of that recording by embarking on his first tour in more than two years, crossing the country with the E Street Band in tow and playing three hour-plus concerts that include The River in its entirety, plus never-performed songs from the new box set. If you can get tickets for this one, it promises to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

The Carpet and the Connoisseur: The James F. Ballard Collection of Oriental Rugs | March 6 – May 8
During the early 20th century, St. Louis businessman, and avid world traveler, James F. Ballard became one of the country’s top collectors of Oriental carpets. Ballard ultimately divided his collection of carpets between the Saint Louis Art Museum and The Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1929 and 1930. As a result the Museum has amassed a collection of Oriental rugs recognized as one of the most significant collections in the world. The Carpet and the Connoisseur, on view in the Museum’s Special Exhibition galleries, will highlight 51 carpets from the Ballard collection as well as two 19th-century Persian pleasure tents that were used for outdoor gatherings.
