5 Things to Do this Weekend in St. Louis 8/21 – 8/23
Happy Friday! It’s time for a fun-filled weekend in St. Louis. If you are still pulling your plans together, here are a few suggestions to help make this a memorable weekend.
Third Annual Sinquefield Cup: August 22 – September 3
Ask any chess players and they’ll tell you St. Louis is now the chess capitol of the U.S., and fans of the game will once again flock to the Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis for the Third Annual Sinquefield Cup. The event is part of an international circuit of competitions featuring some of the world’s best players, including Magnus Carlsen, Veselin Toplaov and, for the first time in St. Louis, Viswanathan Anand – along with several more familiar superstars that have competed for past Sinquefield Cups.
St. Louis World’s Fare Heritage Festival: August 22-23
The St. Louis World’s Fare: Heritage Festival & Games is a FREE annual event celebrating all that makes St. Louis great! From family activities, and live musical performances to historical exhibitions, live art displays, and a business expo supporting innovative ideas and small business, the World’s Fare will be a festival that has something for all to enjoy from August 22-23 at the Shakespeare Glen in Forest Park!
Festival of the Little Hills: August 21-23
One of the best craft fairs in the St. Louis area is the Festival of the Little Hills in St. Charles. Historic Main Street and Frontier Park are filled with booths selling everything from jewerly and art, to kids clothes and holiday decorations. More than 300 vendors from 30 states set up shop during the three day event. Shopping isn’t the only attraction though. There’s live music, kids activities and some of the best festival food around.
Pet-a-Palooza: August 23
Pet-a-Palooza provides a day of fun with your pet where attendees will enjoy one-of-a-kind exhibitions such as Boutique Boulevard, Agility Courses Arena, The Pro Plan Performance Team Dog Show, Adoption Alley and many more.
Jason Aldean at Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre: August 22
Southern country-rocker Jason Aldean performs on his “Burn It Down” tour, opened by Cole Swindell and Tyler Farr. Get revved up for tunes like “She’s Country,” “Take a Little Ride” and “Just Gettin’ Started.” Tickets at livenation.com
