North County

Nature abounds in North County. Featuring some of the region’s most beautiful parks and conservation areas, you can wander through a field of sunflowers, bike along the Mississippi River, cast a line into a picturesque lake, spot bald eagles from a pedestrian bridge and more.

You can also consume nuggets of history at interesting, off-the-beaten-path attractions such as Bellefontaine Cemetery and Arboretum, Fort Belle Fontaine and the St. Louis Mercantile Library.

Boasting historical treasures and rich culture, North County is also the site of several major projects that aim to bring more value to the area in the coming years. WildCare Park, for instance, is a new safari experience from the Saint Louis Zoo, where researchers will study endangered species and visitors will interact with animals, adventure through woodlands and camp in the wild – if they dare.
