One of the most famous highways anywhere in the world, Route 66 has become an icon of American culture and history. St. Louis is the largest city along Route 66 between Chicago and Los Angeles, and there are sites related to the Mother Road to check out within the region.
St. Louis has always been one of the world’s top five indigenous blues music cities, and is now home to the National Blues Museum. In any given week in St. Louis, there are up to 300 chances to treat your ears to some phenomenal musicianship. The blues genre alone account for nearly 50 acts a week performing at clubs throughout the region like BB’s Jazz, Blues and Soups.
St. Louis continues to reinvent itself with exciting projects like Ballpark Village, the Saint Louis Aquarium at Union Station and the re-imagined Gateway Arch National Park. Historic buildings in the Gateway City are undergoing transformations and being re-purposed for 21st century uses. From loft condos and apartments to restaurants, retail and entertainment venues, new life has been breathed into the city.
