These locations and events will help you get through the often tough-to-get-through holiday and winters seasons. Here are some enjoyable ways to keep in shape this fall in St. Louis! Events Rock n Roll Half Marathon | October 15 - 16 You won’t need your running playlist to stay motivated during this half marathon or five-kilometer race. Runners descend on St. Louis during October for the popular Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon where participants are serenaded by live bands and cheer teams positioned along the course. Go Halloween Race | October 23 Attracting runners of all skill levels, ages and abilities, The Great GO! Halloween Race features a half marathon, 10k, 5k and one-mile fun run. STL Running Tours Beginning October 3rd, the first Sunday of every month St. Louis Running Tour will feature the Forest Park running tour. At 9:00 AM every first Sunday we will start & end at the Visitors Center in the Park. Learn about the amazing history of Forest Park & the people who influenced it. But you could even run this route just for the scenery. Parks Forest Park One of the largest urban parks in the United States. At 1,371 acres, it is approximately 500 acres larger than Central Park in New York City. It’s home to the Art Museum, Science Center, Zoo, Jewel Box greenhouse, History Museum, The Muny theatre, 7.5-mile biking, jogging and skating path, skating rink and lakes. Forest Park is the Crown Jewel of St. Louis and best of all it’s FREE! Creve Coeur Park Creve Coeur Park is nestled in St. Louis County and features 2,145 acres, trails for biking, running, walking and even a “Go Ape” zip lining courses. Non-gasoline boats are permitted on vast lake, but you’re welcome to canoe, kayak or paddleboard. Canoes are available to rent along the beach. Other activities at the park include: Frisbee golf course, picnic shelters, archery fields and much more. Tower Grove Park With more than 2.4 million annual visitors, this 289-acre National Historic Landmark park offers Victorian pavilions, bird watching, festivals and many other recreational activities. It’s the perfect place to go for a jog and bring your pet for some fun in the sun. Laumeier Sculpture Park Laumeier is one of the first and largest dedicated sculpture parks in the country, making it an institution of international significance as well as a unique complement to the cultural landscape of the St. Louis region. A walk or run through this park will for sure be distracting, but the artwork is engaging enough that you won’t pay attention to your exercise. Share
