Military Reunions

From the World Wars to the modern military, St. Louis is filled with monuments and historic sites honoring our nation’s military men and women. Below is a list of attractions that may be of special interest for visiting military reunions.

St. Louis was also the site of a Revolutionary War battle in 1780 at Fort San Carlos, which stood at what is now the corner of Fourth and Walnut Streets in downtown St. Louis. And most of the generals on both sides of the Civil War served at St. Louis’ Jefferson Barracks military post, including longtime residents U.S. Grant and William T. Sherman.

In addition, the city played an important role in the exploration of a route from the eastern United States to the Pacific coast, serving as the departure point for explorers Lewis & Clark in 1804. Visit the The historic Bellefontaine Cemetery and Calvary Cemetery are the final resting places for such illustrious citizens as explorer William Clark; General William T. Sherman; Edward Bates, U.S. Attorney General under Abraham Lincoln; and Major General Don Carlos Buell, who led Federal troops in the battle of Shiloh.

To help your military reunion members feel welcome the following items can be provided free of charge. Complimentary quantities are equal to the number of guest rooms blocked on peak night at a St. Louis City or St. Louis County hotel. Additional quantities can be purchased for a nominal cost.

  • Official St. Louis Visitors Guide
  • St. Louis Lapel Pin
  • St. Louis Postcard
  • Plastic Drawstring Bag
