Four hands. 176 keys. Boundless brilliance. 2 Pianos 4 Hands follows piano nerds Ted and Richard from childhood lessons to brutal competitions as they navigate pushy parents, eccentric teachers, soaring ambitions and the eternal question: How far can innate talent and sheer determination really take you? Staged by The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, this riotous musical comedy brings classical favorites by Bach and Beethoven together with upbeat tunes by Billy Joel and Jerry Lee Lewis. Part coming-of-age story, part musical showdown, 2 Pianos 4 Hands is a hilarious, heartfelt journey through childhood dreams, relentless practice and the pursuit of greatness.

Death Becomes Her

Until October 25

People will do anything to look fabulous for all eternity, but actress Madeline Ashton and her best frenemy Helen Sharp go too far when they accept a secret potion from a mysterious woman. Savagely funny, according to Time Out, Death Becomes Her is a drop-dead gorgeous musical coming to The Fabulous Fox.

GalaxyCon

October 23 to 25

Get ready to hang out with fellow fans at America’s Center as you celebrate your favorite comic books, anime, video games, TV series, movies and more. Apple Butter Festival

October 24 and 25

Nothing says fall like a homemade, decadently spiced batch of apple butter. A mutual love for this thick, caramelized applesauce is at the core of the Apple Butter Festival in Kimmswick, which attracts more than 100,000 visitors every year. Ahead of the festival, the Kimmswick Historical Society gathers to peel and prepare the apples on Friday. Then, the apples are cooked in a kettle over a wood-burning fire until the fragrant spread is thick enough to seal in jars. Come Saturday morning, visitors can enjoy the small-town ambience, live entertainment and between 500 and 600 food, drink and craft vendors, including those selling the deliciously decadent treat. Don’t leave the festival without a jar (or two) to enjoy smeared on toast, swirled into yogurt or added to baked goods. After one taste of the apple butter, you’ll want to stock your pantry with the indulgence.
