Clash for the Crown: Celebrating Chess Champions

Running from April 11, 2024, to Jan. 12, 2025 at the World Chess Hall of Fame, Clash for the Crown explores the histories of the World Chess Championship and the Women’s World Chess Championship.

The exhibition will feature artifacts from the collections of the World Chess Hall of Fame and the International Chess Federation, along with loans from chess champions across the globe.

Get up close to the chess set used in game three of the 1972 World Chess Championship, a signed first-day cover from the 1984 Women’s World Chess Championship between Maia Chiburdanidze and Irina Levitina and a replica of the 2023 World Chess Championship trophy won by Ding Liren, among other artifacts.

Videos and interactive stations will also shine a light on past champions.
