Landmarks Lecture Series: “Dr. Richard Fuhrmann: Amateur Photographer in turn-of-the-century St. Louis” by Tom Gronski

June 19 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Dr. Richard Fuhrmann (1880-1937) was a native-born St. Louisan who, starting at age 16, learned the art of photography from the influential Emil Boehl. Although trained as a medical doctor, Fuhrmann practiced photography as a hobby throughout his entire life, and not only captured many noteworthy early 20th-century images of St. Louis, but preserved Boehl's 19th-century photographs of the city. Historian Tom Gronski will discuss the rediscovery of these St. Louis treasures.

The Landmarks Association of St. Louis is proud to announce our inaugural 2024 Spring Lecture Series at our office in Soulard. Please join us for a diverse selection of talks covering the history, architecture, and culture of the St. Louis Region.

With assistance from the Regional Arts Commission, all lectures are FREE. Lectures are on Wednesdays, but times vary between midday and evening. Space is limited; Each lecture requires its own reservation.
