Olympic & Paralympic Day

June 26 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

The St. Louis Sports Commission presents Olympic & Paralympic Day on Friday, June 26th!

Homegrown Olympic Champion Jackie Joyner-Kersee will lead those in attendance, including area young people, around the track at Francis Olympic Field, site of the 1904 Olympic Games, in observance of World Olympic & Paralympic Day.  This will be preceded by a Q&A inside Sumers Rec Center, and a series of Olympic sports challenge stations for attendees to try.

The celebration is a St. Louis tradition which connects to the region’s Olympic legacy and is part of the Sports Commission’s efforts to positively impact St. Louis through its opportunities as an Olympic city.  Created by the International Olympic Committee, Olympic Day commemorates the birth of the modern Olympic Games on June 23, 1894.  Olympic Day aims to promote fitness, well-being, culture, and education, while also observing the Olympic values of excellence, friendship, respect, and sportsmanship.
