On Earth

March 29 @ 10:00 am - 8:00 pm
|Recurring Event (See all)

On Earth, an exhibition at the Pulitzer Arts Foundation running from March 8 to Aug. 4, features five artists who use moving images to explore the complex relationships between humans and the natural world.

The film and video works in this exhibition present land as a central figure, introducing themes of temporality, ritual, memory, territory, loss and birth. Offering critical readings on the often destructive relationship between humankind and the earth, the artists also advance visions for alternative futures.

The artworks directly engage with challenging realities while acknowledging the joy, creativity and growth that a relationship with land can provide.

Represented artists include Ali Cherri (born 1976, Beirut, Lebanon); Jeffrey Gibson (born 1972, Colorado Springs, Colorado); Sky Hopinka (born 1984, Ferndale, Washington); Ana Mendieta (born 1948, Havana, Cuba, died 1985); and Rivane Neuenschwander (born 1967, Belo Horizonte, Brazil).
