René Paul Barilleaux: Crafting a Curatorial Practice

April 14 @ 2:00 pm - 4:30 pm

MOCRA is pleased to present a talk by René Paul Barilleaux, guest curator of the exhibition Open Hands: Crafting the Spiritual.

Barilleaux will trace the evolution of his curatorial practice over a forty-year period, including a sustained interest in everyday and craft materials and the handmade. Barilleaux connects his initial fondness for traditional craftwork back to the stained glass and mosaics he encountered as a child in his parish church. His curatorial approach is artist-centric, putting creators and makers at the forefront. In addition to looking back at past projects, beginning in the 1980s, in this presentation Barilleaux will preview exhibitions currently in development.

The talk is free and open to the public.

It takes place in Anheuser-Busch Auditorium, located in Cook Hall on the Saint Louis University campus. A reception will follow at MOCRA, a short walk away. Free street parking is available. Visit MOCRA's website for additional information, directions, and other parking options.
