The World in St. Louis is a rotating gallery located in the back of The 1904 World’s Fair exhibit.

St. Louis was the center of the world in 1904. Musicians, artists, writers, scientists, and philosophers from six continents made their way here, bringing with them art, language, food, and culture. In one afternoon a fairgoer could travel from the streets of Cairo to a government palace in Buenos Aires to the German Alps.

Learn about the details of the items people brought to St. Louis from all corners of the globe. Some nations had small displays, and others had huge buildings. Some nations chose to come here. Others were forced to participate by colonial governments. For seven months in 1904, the world—with all its wonder and complications—was in St. Louis.
