Every St. Louis itinerary should start with a visit to Gateway Arch National Park – and a coordinated effort by Jefferson National Parks Association (JNPA) has made that visit possible on select dates from Nov. 7 to 29, during ongoing federal funding lapse.
Through public-private partnership, Gateway Arch National Park was able to reopen from Oct. 25 to 28 for the 60th anniversary of the monument’s completion. Working with the National Park Service, Gateway Arch Park Foundation and other key partners, JNPA has found a way to reopen the Gateway Arch on weekends in November, as well.
Guests will have access to the Old Courthouse, the Museum at the Gateway Arch, the Arch Store and the Arch Cafe. They will also be able to take tram rides to the top of the 630-foot-tall monument, watch the documentary Monument to the Dream and experience Cobblestones & Courage, an award-winning 3D movie that transports visitors to the 1850s St. Louis riverfront era.
“We look forward to the federal government restoring normal operations to all national parks as soon as possible,” David Grove, president and CEO of JNPA, said in a recent press release. “Until then, we are pleased to see the Gateway Arch and the Old Courthouse open through Thanksgiving week – an important season that draws many visitors, supports area businesses and provides jobs for employees who make every moment memorable.”
