About

America’s oldest and largest outdoor musical theater, The Muny has presented Broadway productions with top performers every summer for more than 105 seasons. From June through August, it’s an essential stop in St. Louis’ Forest Park. “[The Muny] is one of the greatest things St. Louis has ever created,” artistic director and executive producer Mike Isaacson says. “It’s one of the most democratic theaters in the U.S., and it’s known around the world. The way that we present musicals puts us in our own category; there’s literally no one else that does what we do.” The vision for a permanent outdoor theater in Forest Park likely dates to the 1904 World’s Fair, but it wasn’t until 1916 that the dream would begin to be realized, with plans for a production of As You Like It by Margaret Anglin’s Shakespearean troupe. Over a century in the making, The Muny story is one of vision, perseverance and commitment to culture and community. For group ticketing information, contact jschell@muny.org.
