2023 Ends on a High Note as Metallica Sets Record at The Dome, Setting the Stage for 2024 Tuesday December 19, 2023 By Catherine Neville Packed concerts, Battlehawks wins and AC Next Gen project progress - America’s Center reflects on a successful 2023 in anticipation of more to come in ‘24 ST. LOUIS - In November, Metallica made St. Louis history during their M72 World Tour. Over 100,000 tickets were sold at The Dome, setting the record for most tickets sold for any event since The Dome’s opening in 1995. That success was just one of the year’s many high notes. The Dome featured multiple highlights in 2023, hosting 27 events, including a Battlehawks season with best-in-the-nation attendance, the ever-popular Monster Jam, a brilliant (and jam-packed) Beyoncé concert and the exhilarating Gateway Dirt Nationals. The convention and event calendar for 2024 will bring even more excitement to downtown St. Louis, including P!nk’s kick-off for her new Summer Carnival tour on Sat., Aug. 10, with special guests Sheryl Crow, The Script and KidCutUp. Tickets are available at https://www.livenation.com/. “2023 has exceeded expectations with attendance and excitement at concerts, games, events and conventions,” said Brain Hall, Explore St. Louis chief marketing officer. “We look forward to 2024 and beyond, especially with the completion of the first phase of the AC Next Gen expansion at America’s Center.” The first phase of the $240 million AC Next Gen project at America’s Center is scheduled to be completed in early 2024. The expansion and renovation will feature 72,000 square feet of new exhibit space, an outdoor event plaza and an enhanced entrance to the convention center complex on Washington Avenue, as well as double the number of loading docks for exhibitors and concert equipment.
