COGIC, One of St. Louis’ Largest Conventions, Returns for Its Annual Holy Convocation With A Powerful Lineup Of Speakers And Outreach Activities

St. Louis, MO (November 6, 2017) The Church of God in Christ (COGIC) brings back its 110th Holy Convocation to the city of St. Louis.  This gathering of some 25,000+ attendees is being held November 6-12, 2017 at the Dome at America’s Center in downtown St. Louis, Missouri. Featured speakers for this year’s convocation include mega-church pastor and New York Times Best-selling Author, Joel Osteen of Houston, Texas and Gospel-recording artist, Bishop Marvin Sapp of Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Pastor Joel Osteen, leader of the Lakewood Church seen weekly by over 7million viewers in over 100 countries, will speak on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 7pm.

Presiding Bishop Charles E. Blake, Sr. says, “The Church of God in Christ is one of the oldest Pentecostal denominations in the country.  Our annual Holy Convocation, held in St. Louis for the past eight years, is the largest, singular Christian conference that inspires and encourages hundreds of thousands of believers across the globe.”

Once again this year, The Church of God in Christ intends to make a tangible economic impact on the St. Louis community. Since 2010, COGIC’s impact to the St. Louis regional economy has exceeded 125 million dollars.

The Church of God in Christ also plans to reach out to St. Louis’ underserved population through a number of Urban Initiatives known collectively as “COGIC Cares.”

Event: COGIC Health Fair

Time: 10am-4pm daily

Location: America’s Center Exhibit Hall

COGIC’s Global Health and Wellness Initiative is sponsoring a health fair.  It will be an informative event featuring workshops, health screening and medical assistance.  The event is free and open to the public.

Thursday, Nov. 9

Event: Economic Development and Education Fair

Time: 9am-2pm

Location: America’s Center Atrium

The Economic Development and Education Fair will comprise a collaboration of educators to provide information, resources, and subject-matter experts to inform and educate citizens for the transformation of communities.

Event: “Senior Day” - Celebrating Phenomenal Boomers and Distinguished Seniors

Time: 9am-11am

Location: America’s Center, Hall 5

The International Sunday School Department of the Church of God in Christ is sponsoring the “Senior Day” program to emphasize various programs to benefit our senior population.  Various speakers will address topics such as “Social Security,” “Fraud Prevention,” “Health and Wellness” and more.

Friday, Nov. 10

Event: “Bounce, Pass, Hope” – Basketball Game with local First Responders

Time: 2pm

Location: America’s Center, Hall 2

During the “Bounce, Pass, Hope” event, the Youth Department of the Church of God in Christ will play St. Louis First Responders in a game of basketball.  This game is being billed as a “Basketball Game of Unity.”

Saturday, Nov. 11

Event: Law Day

Location: America’s Center Room 255

Time: 10am-1pm

COGIC’s “Law Day” will feature free legal advice for legal topics such as power of attorney, probate, wills, trusts, tickets and warrant recalls.

Event: “Christmas in November”

Location: 5300 Dr. Martin Luther King Drive, St. Louis, MO 63112

Time: 9am-1pm

This annual event blesses the St. Louis community with free groceries, clothes, appliances, cosmetics, toys, a hot lunch, haircuts, and free cell phones with minutes, for those who qualify. Children must be present to receive toys and adults will be asked to present an ID.  No pre-registration is required.  For more information please call 314-583-0610.

Event: The Presiding Bishop’s “We Care” Banquet

Location: Marriott-St. Louis Grand Hotel (Majestic Ballroom)

Time: 3pm

This annual gala is held to support the work of COGIC Charities, the benevolent arm of COGIC that provides aids domestically and globally to those affected by poverty, disease and natural disasters.  This afternoon of entertainment and inspiration will feature comedian and actor, Mr. Chris Tucker.
