Did you know that it’s the 120th anniversary of the Louisiana Purchase Exposition, informally known as the St. Louis World’s Fair?

To celebrate, Clementine’s Naughty and Nice Creamery has created four themed, limited-edition flavors, which you can purchase online now or in-stores on July 21 (a.k.a. National Ice Cream Day).

Beginning at 10am on National Ice Cream Day, the creamery will hand out 120 free scoops of ice cream at the Missouri History Museum, whose new 1904 World’s Fair exhibit influenced the special collection. The first 50 people in line at its eight ice cream parlors across the St. Louis region will also be treated to a free limited-edition T-shirt!

The creativity – and quality – of Clementine’s Naughty and Nice Creamery never ceases to amaze. Combining its proprietary all-natural dairy base with the finest handpicked ingredients, it churns out decadent flavors such as Italian butter cookie, gooey butter cake, salted cracker caramel and maple bourbon with candied pecans. Plant-based patrons also love the lemon poppyseed, tahini-chocolate chip and raspberry push pop.

The same prowess and passion were put into the World’s Fair-inspired flavors. “Collaborating with the Missouri History Museum, we were able to create flavors based on things that were invented or popularized at the fair,” Tamara Keefe, founder, CEO and self-proclaimed flavor temptress of Clementine’s Naughty and Nice Creamery, says. “St. Louis has had a major impact on ice cream as we know it, and we want to honor that heritage.”

Fairy Floss, the brightest flavor of the bunch, swirls spun sugar with velvety malt, evoking the nostalgia of a childhood spent at carnivals, while Meet Me in St. Louis, Louis adorns sweet corn ice cream with buttered corn flakes for an appealing contrast of textures.

“Meet Me in St. Louis, Louis captures the essence of summer,” Keefe says, “and it’s a nod to the bronze ear of corn that extended 10 feet from the top of the Palace of Agriculture at the fair.”

Paying homage to the waffle cone, which was popularized at the 1904 World’s Fair, Waffle Cone-a-Copia is a vegan delight! It features caramel-coconut ice cream seeded with crunchy waffle cone nuggets, enveloped in luscious dark chocolate bark and sprinkled with delicate sea salt flakes, balancing sweet and salty in every spoonful.

Last but not least, Banana Split, Split offers a tantalizing trio of flavors: cherry, milk chocolate and, of course, banana. “It’s the first time that we’ve put three ice cream flavors in a pint,” Keefe says, “and it tastes so good!”

From Lafayette Square to Clayton and the Central West End to Kirkwood, Clementine’s Naughty and Nice Creamery has locations in some of the most charming neighborhoods of St. Louis. Whether you’re in town for National Ice Cream Month or not, you’ll want to stop by one of the shops for a scoop – or three.
