Claim to Fame: JJK is the world’s greatest female athlete, winning more Olympic medals than any other American woman in Track and Field. Jackie’s Olympic jewelry includes three gold, one silver and two bronze medals. She is the world-record holder in the heptathlon and the American record-holder in the long jump. Sports Illustrated for Women magazine named her the greatest woman athlete of the 20th Century.

Neighborhood: Grew up in neighboring East St. Louis, Illinois. Lives in St. Louis County.

Passion: Jackie is committed to ensuring that all children have access to quality after-school programs and safe places to play. She created the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Foundation to help in-need kids succeed in academics, athletics and leadership. Activities ranging from sports to healthy lifestyle education to one-on-one mentoring opportunities fill the annual calendar of events at the East St. Louis-based youth and sports facility located in her childhood neighborhood.
